Finished Pillow Shams

finished pillow shams
I did it! It was looking like I might not finish these by today, but I decided I needed to just do it.

I really appreciate having Amy's challenge this month--I have a lot of things needing to be finished by the end of August and the One Thing, One Week challenge is a good opportunity to choose something that needs some attention and get. it. done.

I did work on something that was not on my list, I couldn't help it.
9-patches with sashing
My 9-patches now have all their initial sashing strips sewn on. My Kona crush fabric was delivered last week and I couldn't help but cut into it and get this next step done. Now I need to work on the layout... I have a couple more before-September things to do first though.

In non-sewing news, we have a garden photo or two. This is what happens when you don't pay a ton of attention to the garden because of fear of chiggers (I hate them oh so much.)
cucumber, horizontal

The sunflower is getting heavy... it's like a mini-umbrella here. (FYI, it's a Russian Mammoth, if you wanted to know.) It was about 7 ft tall before it started drooping. And you can kind of see the front-yard cherry tomato creeping out onto the sidewalk in the background too.

  12. L O V E the pillow shams! Such pretty colors. And the corners meet so neatly! How do you do that? When I recently made a t-shirt quilt - thanks to your wonderful tips and guidance - some of the corners did not line up so nicely. :(

Can't wait to see what you are going to do with those squares!!

And what is your handsome gardener holding??? Cucumber? Zucchini?

  15. I found it!!! Or should I say I found you!!! Does the Springville Quilt show ring a bell?? I went there twice this year and one of my FAVORITE quilts was your Y2K crazy quilt! I knew I had seen it someone else, or simmilar but not sure. So I sent a shout out on my blog to have people see if they could reconize the quilt and know what it was called or whatever information I could get!! Then Karen from Badlands found it for me! She sent me the link, and it was you! I knew you were in Utah but it just skipped my mind!!! Could I email you about your quilt?? I have some questions for you! :D

  16. Oops, I forgot to mention it's a cucumber that my son is holding. Crazy, huh?

Karen--I pinned every seam intersection to try to keep the corners matching. They aren't perfect, but I think they turned out good enough. :)
